Affection & Authority of Jesus | Luke 19:41-20:8 | December 7, 2025 | Aaron T. Colyer

In this message from Luke 19:41–20:8, we see both the deep affection and absolute authority of Jesus on display. He weeps over Jerusalem for missing “the time of His visitation,” reminding us of His heart for those who still don’t see Him as Savior and calling us to care for the lost in the same way. Jesus then cleanses the temple and teaches daily in it, showing that God’s people are meant to be a house of prayer and that every believer—now a temple of the Holy Spirit—is called to cling to every word that comes from God. As His authority is challenged by the religious leaders, we’re confronted with our own motivations: Do we truly recognize Jesus as the Son of God, and are we living to please Him or to please people? This passage invites us not to miss the good news of His visitation, but to respond to the gospel with repentance, faith, and wholehearted devotion.
