5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
7 Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
8 It will be healing to your flesh
and refreshment to your bones.
Good morning and thank you for beginning your day with us. This past Sunday, we celebrated all of our high school graduates as they closed one season of life and move into the next. As I was reflecting on how to best celebrate them and help best encourage them as they head into this next season, Proverbs 5 verses 3 through 8 are what came to mind. And even though this is something that I gave to the graduates, I think that it's something for all of us that we need to remember daily. It says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. There at the beginning, Solomon tells us that we need to trust in the Lord with every part of who we are, not just every now and then, not just when it's convenient, but with all of our heart, every day, every hour, every minute. And then it tells us not to lean on our own understanding. You see, whenever there's situations where we don't understand what's going on or we need to seek wisdom, we shouldn't look to the world. We should look to God, who at the beginning of Proverbs tells us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Fools despise wisdom and instruction. But I love how it ends right here in verse 8 when it says, It will be healing to your flesh and a refreshment to your bones. You see, not only are we told that trusting in God will make straight our paths, and it tells us that as we do that, it will be a refreshment to us. It will be healing to us. And that is a great promise in Scripture. So my challenge to you this morning is in all of your plans and all of the things that you have coming up and all of your future, are you truly surrendering to the Lord and seeking Him? Or are you trying to understand it on your own, apart from who God is? I hope that this was encouraging you to you this morning. Let's strive to magnify Christ and share the gospel in our homes in the Wimberly Valley and beyond. Peace.
